Puerto Vallarta Sport fishing is Known for Huge Blue and Black Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Dorado/ Mahi Mahi, Cubera, and Wahoo. Banderas Bay stretches over 40 miles wide but if you want to get into some record braking Puerto Vallarta fish You need to get outside the bay. That does not mean you cannot find great fishing inside the bay as well like mahi mahi, Jack Crevalle, Bonito, small Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Spanish Mackerel, Red Snapper, African Pompano, Needle fish, and more. but the big Blue and Black Marlins 200-700 lbs and the cow Yellowfin Tuna 200-350 lbs are either at Corbetena or El Banco 36 -50 miles offshore from the Marina. When fishing offshore You want to have a reliable boat that will get You to the fishing grounds quick, but You still want a comfortable ride becuase even on the faster boats it is a 1 and 1/2 to 2 hour ride to get offshore. The My Marlin holds the Record in Puerto Vallarta for the Largest Black Marlin in Tournament History. This year will be the 62 annual Marlin and Sailfish tournament. The Thing that makes Puerto Vallarta Sport fishing so special is that You can catch a billfish all year around granted You might have to look a little harder in different times of the year. But they are still out there no matter what time of the year, The Black and Blue Marlins normally run fromJune until early December high season is July through November.
